Brian, did you cross it, or was it a natural cross-pollination...only Im wondering if it might be worth saving some seed from my own paeonies.

Scotsgran they need a lot patience,as you know they can take over a year to germinate but occasionally they come up in a few months ,for me they germinate best in my sand beds in the frames the temperature being a lot more stable than in pots, average flowering is 5 years with the tree ones less for the herbaceous ones
Karen that is a tricky question yes I do pollinate them but think a few are possibly self they are so close to Suffruiticosa which is where it all started.I have one that has never in 20 years produced a viable seed ,produces what looks like a viable pod but when it splits nothing.
I have a few seedlings this year from a cross I tried useing molly the witch ,all I have to do now is last long enough to see them flower ,it is something to aim at.lol

Thanks Brian. I'll see what the pods are like then. :)

Lol Bjs that is why we all last so long. We cannot bear to miss out on those first flowers. It is interesting to hear you say they germinate best in the sand beds in the frame because of the more stable temperature. This year I am trying Verbena seeds. I read somewhere that it was beneficial to scatter the seeds on compost, then seal in a plastic bag, sit in a place where the temperature was around 25deg. and wait until germination. I have never been successful with Verbena even when I bought a potted plant. I hope for a better outcome this year.

That is very nice. How long did it take from sowing the seeds to flowering?
