Moraea lurida

I was playing with my camera, and tried posing the plant and flower on a white background. It can be difficult to separate the flower from a dirt background, so I tried with paper. The arrow markings are rather unusual.

The background shows the flower patterns to perfection. Experiment successful.

Stunning wonderful shapes and pattern in that Wylie.

Thanks! One of the best things about the internet is that there are now small companies that sell seeds for the more unusual flowers. It takes a bit of research to find germination and cultivation tips, and a couple of years before the first flower, but it is worth it.

Fantastic flower, well done with the photo.

This is really different from the other Moraeas. A lot of the South African iridaceaes grow well here, so I am starting to branch out to the South American species.
