Crinum moorei

Crinum moorei

This is a common species around here. They grow wild and as long as they are left alone, do very well with little care.

These bloom for a very long time, but it is in an area I rarely visit. I have to fight the cannas, bamboo, lantana, ferns, etc. to get to it.

To me it would be worth the fight ? shame you cant move it nearer your home. Thats what we could do with longer lasting flowering flowers.

The best thing you can do for a crinum is not move it, once it has become established. I did move several bulbs, about 5 years ago, up to my woods. It is only now that they are settled in a blooming well.

I bet you were thrilled when they did flower.

They sound like Peonies they dont like being moved and wont flower for some time afterwards the only success I ve had moving a Peony which was years ago taking my mum advice dig deep all the way round not to disturb the root but now my grandsons have moved them for me and for two years no flowers.

Lucky you! Why can't we have wild flowers like this !

I dug up some of the bulbs of this about 5 years ago and put them in my woods. This year they are finally flowering like they should, and because they are so common, no one steals them.
