Penny,
Every year it gives a great display of flowers. As this plant ages it gives a better and better flowering display.

Bathgate,
It would most likely would grow well there outdoors in summer. Indoors it needs not water during winter (when dormant), I've read. My plant stays outdoors all year.

A great plant to have then thanks Andy.

Yes, it is. I used to have more; however, some died and I sold others. I only have this one and Adenium arabicum, which doesn't bloom as well.

At least they bloom and this one makes up for the rest for blooming I would take cuttings just incase.

That's great to know Andy, thanks. I just can't find it anywhere. :O. I'll have to order one online.

Penny,
Yes, this one definitely more than makes up for the rest. :>)) Cuttings are very difficult off this plant. I have never been successful, unfortunately.

Bathgate:
The plant loves heat and sun. It's easy to grow as long as it receives only little water and plenty of heat and sun (as it's a true desert plant). It's is very cold-sensitive, though. As soon as temps drop below 50 degrees F. at night it should be brought indoors.

Thats a shame Andy .

Penny,
I will continue to try more cuttings. One hopefully, will take. They tend to stay green for a long time, then just shrivel up and die. I have to figure out a new strategy for starting it.

How about putting them in water see if they root

I've tried that, they will for sure rot. It's a desert plant. It needs to be very hot and soil must be kept just barely moist from what I've read. It's easier to grow them from seed. My plant has only once ever produced seed. I can't remember what I did with the seeds! LOL!

wow- I've seen it grow now over 3 years. Largest its ever been.
Its should be happy in the hot nights(98F AT 3 AM In Santa Barbara) and ferociously hot days you are having. 117F in Van Nuys!

It hasn't grown too much; however, it does flower so well every year. It's in full bloom right now with the extreme heat! :>))
It was 117ºF in Ramona on Friday. Many places in San Diego County were 112 to 115ºF inland. Only a few places were spared the extreme heat along the coast. Last night was the hottest night so far to date. It's really hot this morning again! Yucky weather!

We are in a 80h and 60l (F)cycle(roughly) and for at least another 3 weeks they say. Perfect weather.
Just watering now Andy. I cant even think of where to put anything anymore. 15 years of planting..and i hit the wall. Prune, water, fertilize is about it.

Most of this week will be upper 80's and lows in the upper 60's to low 70's. It's another extremely hot night!
