Originally it was the wife's dish garden size plant in her bathroom. What a surprise when she put it outside it did well. She added the Tahitian bridal veil plant and some other bits of this plant and that plant to that big pot.

Must of liked the steam and now the day light sun to do so well then Stan. Your wife is like me putting assortments in with a plant.

She's a mixer for sure. Most of the time is turns out in ways I never would have thought of.

Us females are use to mixing food for all you men so its tasty lol so your wife has taste 😁

That's strange! I've never seen that plant grow outdoors in the SF Bay Area. It does pretty well outdoors here. It just doesn't like the water so much here. Balboa Park used to have hundreds of them planted in the shady areas. I think the drought took care of them...killed them all! My plants (in the ground) were killed by the drought, also.

I wish it was "Mauna Loa" with huge leaves and blooms. Not sure of the background on that. That one might be more tender,or the same.
But this plain one looks nice.

I had a 'Sensation' (which has bigger leaves than 'Muana Loa' in the ground for about 3 years. It was the most difficult plant to keep looking good. The snails consistently were eating the large leaves. It's a gorgeous plant, though!

For years I've posted about trying that outdoors- and wouldn't you know they went from always there for sale ( HD) To now never seen.
Whats interesting is that it was blooming for you...extra large bloom too.

Yes, I had it growing out in the front yard 4 years or so (when I see the dates on my photos). It just never seemed to be able to get enough water and the snails were constantly attacking it. I finally took it out. :>((. It definitely needs a shady spot here and tons of snail bail around it. The Botanical Building in Balboa Park has many varieties growing in their raised-beds there, including Sensation. They always looks so flawless, no brown-tipping nor burned leaves.
