Gladiolus murielae

Trust me to take a photo when they're nearly over!

I saw these bulbs on the Crocus website, and they took ages to sprout (in fact they were still in the wrapping). Then I pushed the best ones into a huge pot in a sunny spot (front garden). I absolutely love them, and hope they will come back next year . . .

Is anyone else growing these?

I grew these once Sheila ... am I right in thinking they have a lovely scent?

Thanks Julia.

Shirley, I just went out to see if they have a scent(!) but it’s very slight.

I grew these once too,but don't recall them having a scent..I think I was a bit too impatient with them the year after,as I overwintered them in a coldframe, but thought they were never going to appear..so emptied them in the compost bin ! at least,I think it said they would flower again the following year. ! they are very pretty though,Sheila.....

Thank you Sheila for going out to sniff the flower! I must be thinking of another plant altogether ... it's an age thing ... :o)

I've grown them every year for ages, Sheila. I can't leave them in the ground as they don't overwinter here. They're easy as pie to dig and store and replant in the spring. Their scent is delicious and if you have them planted near a window their scent wafts in on the evening breeze.

Thanks Lori - funnily enough mine are right beside a window, next to where I'm typing on my computer: perfect.

I grow these. I used to dig them up to overwinter, but I've been too lazy to do that for the last 4 or 5 years. As a result, non flowered, but 2 of them flowered this year around 20 Oct., which is rather late, and the flowers kept coming out until last week (I'm going to post the photo today). I think I'm going to dig them up this year, and plant them out somewhere warmer.
