Lol Hywel it's a movie star how can you not like its name I love the original film it could be worse it could of been named Julie Andrews whom I don't like. I don't like my first name I could not of been the only one as I ve always been known by my middle name but that use to be the Welsh way of protecting the child and its worked well so far.

I've seen the film. I can't stand Dick van Dike .
I don't like my name either. I also have a middle name which I like even less lol both are Welsh but there are much nicer ones.

I understand you not liking him I find him false like Julie Andrews he was going to refuse to do it as he did nt like the dance he had to do with the penquins he got irate over that.
I like Hywel but I know what you mean I am funny about names I would never call my kids Dawn as Dawn s are never lucky nor would I call my kids Louise as a child an Italian lady who daughter I us to play with her mum was mad her youngest son Roman has inherited her madness so another name I would nt use nor Ben they always seem to have ill health.
Hywel was a compassionate king of Wales and well educated. 😊 at least you was thought of highly when your parents chose your name.

Thanks. My name was originally going to be Huw but my parents had friends with a little boy already called that so my mother said to call me Hywel instead, in case they mixed us up. I never knew why she chose 'Hywel' and when I asked her she said it was the first name that came into her mind lol …
My second name is after my father. He just decided to put it in when he was at the registrar. My mother didn't know until he came home lol. I'm not saying on the open comments what it is :)

It's funny when I first seen your name reading about King Hywel I thought it was pronounce like Hew el so perhaps your mum wanted to have her Huw in a different way. Lol your dad made sure he got his name in there then typical dad's my brother has my dad's name as a second name . All the old names are coming back into fashion now even my first name and my dad's.
I can't say I blame you not revealing your middle name for security reasons on an open forum. I ve never revealed my first name on the net to any one as it keeps me safe from my ex violent partners also any one trying to commit fraud in my name my son twice has had people try to commit fraud in his name he even had a letter from the government asking him could he prove who he was he threw the letter in the bin he said that's their problem to try and prove that lol. Yet on his 18th birthday he received a birthday card from parliament asking him to join the Labour party so they seem to know who he was then.

My name is pronounced 'Howell' . A Huw came along later lol
When my dad was going to the registrar my grandfather (mum's father) told him that the eldest son should always be named after his father, like he was. That's why my dad put his own name in. But in my father's family that tradition was not kept. My dad had a different name from my grandfather, and my grandfather had a different name from my great grandfather.
Strange how families differ.
You have to be very careful these days about what you reveal about yourself. You can't trust anyone.
It must have been worrying for your son to have a fraud committed in his name.
