Lithops, species n/k

I think they are interesting plants from a botanical point of view but not exactly attractive.

Until they get flowers and then they're amazing.

I vaguely remember my daughter having one of these. We liked it because the patterns reminded us of icicles.

They look more like rocks.

I have a pot that has been on the go for 15 yrs and their flowers are spectacular. their common name in the UK Bathgate is 'living stones'. in their native habitat they merge into the background so are less likely to be seen and eaten by any herbivore. Their Biology is very interesting as the top layer of the 'leaves' is uv resistant.

What pretty pattern on them unusual.

I've always been fascinated by these plants. I hope you have better luck this time with them.

Interesting about their structure Seaburngirl.

We have been looking at buying some of these, but, have been put off by the price!! Monty Don has made them fashionable..... unfortunately lgood luck Hywel.
