It's very much unlikely they will get too much light - in a North facing window! Just the opposite in fact!
Mine are under a South-west facing window. They spent the summer outside on the balcony though they didn't actually get full sunshine but a sort of dappled shade that came through the tomato plants that grew up in front of them.
They flower for me every year & have been in 3" pots for donkey's years! I have never transplanted them which is probably why they don't grow very big. Though they did get tomato fertilizer during the summer.
I have a big plant my daughter gave me for Christmas 4 or 5 years ago which is in flower at the present moment.

I was sure I had found a good spot as they like the shortened days and would get equal amounts of light and darkness... Time to move them again I suppose.
These plants can become heirlooms. One of the members of GoY posted a pic of a plant that was 60 yrs old. It belonged to his mother before he inherited it.
I give mine saintpaulia fertilizer, but this summer was a little chaotic here and some regimens were interrupted... maybe that's why they're not doing as I had hoped?
will have to write them into my will! :-))

A lady friend of ours came to visit us yesterday & she told us the little plant, the same colour as this one which I gave her a couple of years ago, is flowering now as well & she is very pleased with it!

I love these beauties! for some reason mine have not flowered this season. they're in a new spot that I made from them when I put the new kitchen cabinets, right under a north facing window... too much light perhaps?
