Hi Meadowland and Hywel, we go here quite often for a walk along the canal. Water voles are sometimes seen swimming near the banks.

A more wintry scene now but all is calm and still.

Yes Wildrose, Calm today too, the trees are showing their structural forms again, and there are still some berries around for the birds, but the sky looks threatening.... The ducks were very hungry, when we went for our walk, and ate up the grain that we placed down for them.

Yes HB and sometimes they have a barge that takes people along for a short ride, and there is a small café shop at one end.

The shop has wooden benches outside, so it's not a sit in one end of the canal (High Peak Junction), but there is a proper café at the Cromford end where you can board a canal boat trip or just walk the canal. The boat only operates at certain times of the year. There is a website
http://www.cromfordcanal.info/index.htm
There is also the Cromford Mill along the road from there where you can have a look. Hope this helps. There is a shopping complex at Masson Mill nearby further along the main road.
