Lol I bet you do🤣 there is a trick to buttering uncut bread without the bread braking when buttering I learned it off an old miner my ex husbands grand dad you butter it before cutting.😊
Thank you Gnarly gnome it is very tasty as there is no chemicals no yeast just flour Hymalian salt a tea spoon and one teaspoon of baking soda and buttermilk one carton no proving no kneeding either. 20to 25 mons at 180 electric oven.

mmmm. Can I wait 3 days to eat this? Not likely. Just give me a pound of butter and a jar of strawberry jam.

That's an interesting tip 3d! I have never ventured on making spelt without any yeast though a local bakery said that's what they do. How long does it take to rise? I have some sourdough in the making - that takes a long time to rise but you don't add any yeast to that either.

I just mix it quick put it in the tin then straight away put it in the oven cooking for 20 to25 minutes Steragram. I wanted a bread that did nt contain any yeast.

That looks nice :) Thanks for showing me ... I used to buy spelt bread in Morrisons but I suppose a home made one would taste nicer :)

Thank you Hywel yes they do sell it but when I checked the ingredients it was made with yeast also had sugar in and it was those two I did nt want in the bread 🥪😊 I try not to buy any thing with palm oil in it too.

3d True there is no bakers or brewers yeast in homemade spelt bread but there are natural yeasts in the flour and also in buttermilk. It wouldn't rise otherwise. Just out of interest, wondered why you don't leave it in a warm place for an hour or two before baking?
In case you are ever tempted to make bread with white spelt rather than wholemeal just be warned it tastes horrible! Have you ever tried using Einkorn (another very old flour) It makes a very tasty alternative - only downside is you mix it all with your fingers...
Nothing to do with gardening but itsn't it great to be able to discuss other things as well sometimes?

Yes I try try leaving it for an hour or two thank you for letting me know about the natural yeasts Steragram. I won't touch any white bread since I discovered they put chinese human hair in it then use a chemicle to brake it down to make the bread fluffy so thanks for that warning how horrid it tastes. Lol
I shall look out for the Einkorn flour I have never heard of it so I have written it on my shopping list for this week thank you again for that.
Yes it is nice to discuss other things besides garden here for a change I don't see why especially come through winter with not much going on in our gardens why we can't as there are so many on here with great talents and information to help others learn different things for the elderly also young . Or perhaps start a new site with a mix of every thing.

No I did nt Steragram I did look in the local and supermarket shops but they did nt have any I shall take a look in Holland and Barrets next time I go there.

Just another thought - there won't be any nasties in white spelt especially if you get an organic one eg Doves Farm.
