I have seen many flowering in gardens around here this last week or so. The few I used to have seem to have disappeared! 😞

Balcony two possible reasons they will deteriorate in containers if they are not given fresh compost every few years ,also quite a lot of people had problems last year with a small fly similar to the narcissus root fly that enters from the top lays its eggs which when they hatch feed off the bulb and thats the end of it

Oh, I didn't know about that! The Narcissus Fly ruined lots of my Amaryllis bulbs the first year I took them down to Gerry's allotment. I planted them in several rows behind Gerry's Daffodils (grown for cut flowers) not knowing about the fly. When I went to lift them in October I found many bulbs had had their hearts eaten out & so I threw them away. It was only a year or two later that I discover that this fly's grubs were the culprits!
The following years I left them in their pots & put them on stands well off the ground! Never had the problem again in the following 9 years I took them down!
