Smashing colour and shape to these ones ...

Having seen how pretty they look, I am determined to plant lots of them in the autumn. We only have a few in pots.

This was the first time I had grown this C.vernus. They can be blue, white, Cottagekaren grows the white C. vernus Jeanne D'Arc, yellow or striped. I was a bit worried that they would be very large and the colour is startlingly yellow. I might plant them in the grass with the others that are there already.

Do you find that birds peck at the yellow varieties? It has happened to mine some, not all, years.

Shirley tulip this is the first time the yellow crocus have been left alone. Like you I find that the birds seem to destroy the yellow crocus but do not bother other colours. There is still plenty food for the birds because it has been a bumper year for fruit and seeds. We provide fresh water and fat balls so maybe they don't feel the need to destroy the flowers. It has been a fairly mild winter so far and there are lots of insects and bees etc around.
