Nice crop you have there Amy. What type of Beetroot are you growing? Mine didn't do well at all. Maybe the seeds were too old. They were Detroit Reds.

We always have too much lettuce Brian , i was reading a recipe about Lettuce soup today but I'm not sure I would fancy that ..
Paul the beetroot is Bolt Hardy ,it always does well ..

Yes Sue ,its whats called cut & come again its ideal you can pick a few leaves at a time without wasting a whole lettuce ...

Thanks Dd ,yes I can eat a whole plate of lettuce with a sliced up tomato and a couple of basil leaves thrown on ..

Heavy rain forecast here overnight so sprinkled the last of my rocket & oak leaf lettuce seed on any bare soil I could find. Early planted lettuces are getting milky, bitter sap now.
If you like leafy stuff I grew a mustard leaf called Wasabina very early outdoors this year. It grows really quickly before other lettuces, it's really tasty as a young, tender leaf for salads & then just before it bolts you can uproot it & freeze it to use like spinach
