Some time ago I posted photos of amarilis seedlings I made from the seeds. They disappeared completely, and a few days ago Balcony asked me if they had survived. This one was born again. I hope the other seedlings will come back as well.

Thank you Thrupennybit.

My Amarines finally died back (it is a cross between Amaryllis and Nerine). I will be waiting in about 2 to 2½ months to see if they come up again. I did start some white Amaryllis from seed, but they don't die back like the parent plants, which is bad because they need that dry summer to flower. I do give a little water every 3 weeks to the bulbs, just to keep the roots alive.

That's great news! I hope the others grow back, also! :>))

Hi Aleyna, at least one seedling has survived! I was embarrassed by the number of seeds that germinated for me & I didn't know what to do with them! They are survived & I potted them up & grew them on for 4 years till they flowered for the first time.
Looking at your photo I think you tried grow them in ordinary garden soil instead of compost as I did. Garden soil is full of things we don't want to inhibit the germination & growth of our seeds & drains badly, it becomes very compacted & can become waterlogged with no air in the soil. Compost is just the opposite & seeds sown in it germinate faster & more of them germinate & it's easier to take them out later for potting up.

Wylieintheazores, you have some lovely Daylilies in your Flickr account!
I didn't know of Amarines, which are a cross between Amaryllis and Nerine, until you mentioned them! Do you have any photos of them on your Flickr page?

There are 3. Just go to my albums and look at the 2017 Bulbs and Rhizomes album. They are the last photos as xAmarine. I am currently trying to cross xAmarine with xAmarcrinum.
For anyone else, I post my photos on Flickr. just go to

But it is only for the brave - I have 4500 photos there.

Thank you for your patience Thrupennybit :)
Thenk you Delonix, I1ll have my fingers crossed for the other ones.
Willie, I'll have my fingers crossed for you too.
Imagine that, I'm trying regular amarillys and you already crossing them ... in my next life probably... :)
Oh boy, Balcony. I'm the one to be embarassed. But, seen all this rich soil I didn't even thought about looking for a proper compost. Just grabbed some garden soil and planted the seeds.

As I garden on a balcony I don't have "garden soil" & all my compost has to be bought. I've not sown seeds in soil in many years, even on the allotment must seeds were sown in compost before being planted in the soil.
Hope the seedlings grow well for you, Aleyna!
