Summer garden 2

Your garden is looking very colourful. What are you using as a boot at the foot of the upright holding the shade cover?

That is our gazebo. It is used constantly in the summer, and even in other seasons. As it is on top of paving, I bought extra weights (the white ones at the bottom). They are filled with water. The black bags came with the gazebo. They hold two lemonade bottles, again filled with water. They wrap around the gazebo uprights and are held in place with velcro. They are very effective. They are not particularly beautiful so I usually have a pot in front of them. It’s strange how one doesn’t notice until there’s a photo! Admittedly, the patio is very sheltered, but we are able to keep the gazebo up all year round.

Both are good ideas. I have square plant supports. OH made them long enough to go in to the ground but over the years the ends have rotted. I am looking for an alternative to hold them in place. I might try the lemonade bottles and Velcro and see if it would be heavy enough to stop the constant wind whipping the supports away. Our wooden garden seats get thrown around on a regular basis too which is a real nuisance as they are too heavy to put away every day. Old age problems again. Ha Ha.

I think lemonade bottles lashed together with velcro would works very well. I’m sureyou could disguise than reasonably well if you needed to. The bags are made of stuff very like weed control fabric which would blend in reasonably well.

I have plenty of that fabric left over after I discovered it was rubbish at excluding weeds. I will give it a go.

I think it would definitely be worth trying!
