I love mauve flowers...so gentle.

I was surprised to see a mauve one. I've marked the plant and I'm going to put a paper bag over it so it comes true to seed. might be a little late to do that... saving those seeds separately. In years past I usually have a baggie full of the other colours' seeds.

Poppies don’t like my soil. I’m lucky to get any. I get a few of the little wild orangey ones, but over the years we’ve been here I’ve scattered at least half a dozen packets of variousoppy seed and never had more than 2 or 3.

Lovely colour. I'm also being more selective in my poppy jungle, not letting anything to go seed except the colours I really like, however I'm not so sure that they'll come true!

That seems to be the nature of the annual poppy. It is interesting to see what nature selects though. eg: I had mostly a rosy pink with entire petals at the start, (30 years ago?) and now the plants that come up are double ,with fringe petals. I can claim no praise or censure...they have become the dominant strain on my land. It might be different elsewhere.
I've mentioned my emotional attachment for them... and I'll continue to grow them as long as I can. I hope I can interest my sons enough that they will continue my garden when I'm no longer able or no longer here! Poppies!!!
