My mother-in-law has the same fondness for flowers and plants. Last year she gave us part of her orchids. We planted around one of the trees as she instructed us. Because it was native to the south and southeast, it weathered the winter and frost well. This week it gave us its first flowers.

Wow! That's a beautiful Dendrobium! I didn't know you get frost there. It must be a very light frost because I can't imagine this orchid taking much frost.

Where this orchid is growing? Every winter? That's extremely cold!

Delonix, the orchid is attached to a tree trunk. Yep, winter here in our new place can be very cold. We even get some snow once in a while.
