Bought mail order from Woottens October 2915, so taken 4 years to flower. The plant should be 5ft with a flowerhead of dark purply. This is at least 7ft with whitish flowers with a green center and dark eye. I think it is Californicum. I am niggled!!

Its very attractive and unusual though - could be very striking in a flower arrangement

I like it very much, especially the daintiness and the colours of the flowers.

Thank you KAREN, the flowers do resemble V. schlindleri, although some pics show with all purply coloured flowers. I have already contacted them, with the original receipt- they say they are out of stock of nigrum and the nursery has changed hands since I purchased, and will look into it!

STERA, all parts of Veratrum are toxic, so perhaps not ideal for flower arranging.

Sue do you mean Woottens in Suffolk ,if you do we went to there nursery the other week and walked out with nothing , they use to have a nice well stocked popular nursery open to the public but then they moved to new place only dealing with trade they now only open on odd days of the year for the general public , I didn't like it nearly as much as its previous site ,a lot of the plants looked neglected ...

Amy, Wenhasten, that's Suffolk, we did visit once when they were at the old site, lots of interesting plants then. We went to a wedding near Diss so had a long weekend in the area.

Yes that's the one Sue , I liked the old nursery and would often go out of our way to visit it , it might be that they haven't got themselves properly organised with this new site if its changed hands .. I'll be watching it with interest...

Still a very attractive plant though!! If they have changed hands I can't see them replacing it .....not obliged to!!

Im sorry its niggled you, but I think it is absolutely beautiful! Try to get in touch with the seller and send a pic. They should offer to send you what you actually ordered! I just googled it and i5 doesn’t look like Californicum....that doesn’t have the lovely purple centre.
