Pandanus in summer color. (Pandanus utilis (Common Screw Pine))

This is not supposed to grow here. But its taken two winters outdoors, also adapted from shade grown in Florida and really lanky.to be this tightly wound tree. It has a few inches of trunk and those aerial roots. A showy container plant.

Its sharper than Pampas Grass, thorney. Those teeth are sharper than any other plant's teeth I've ever been cut by.
I have fantasies of using the leaves on my bandsaw!

Great capture here Stan! Love the close up, catching light and shadow.
Quite a plant by the sounds of it! A great specimen but lethal when you get too close! Sharper than a saw as you say! ; ))

It gets even worse Kate when the old leaves fall off and go dry. You cant even touch them,so sharp.
Andy,P.utilis. 2nd or 3rd summer. Already lost count.
The long cool and wet winter did make some leaves spot..it came back fine in the summer.
