First year its set fruit@3 years old ( maybe 2!,I forget)..Its ok. I think as it roots go deeper the sugar content will go up.
I didn't expect a late December harvest. Surprised me!

It smells great..nice aroma. But,this is the first year fruiting and the little tree hasn't hit its stride for sugars. I have another related guava Kate and the first two years were not all that tasty, until this years..THEY were sweet.
Guava's are pushing the bay area limit for summer heat. I think we just make it.

Thanks Stan for the feedback, it’s good to learn about different fruits and plants from other areas. Plus, it really looks and sounds delicious!

Wow! That's a wonderful fruit!
My aunt who lives in Hayward has large guava trees, also. She had a lot of fruit still on her trees. She has the pink and the white.
Here guava season is late summer through early winter. Sometimes I still get fruit in winter, though. I have one in a pot and the large 18' tall tree out the back door. It's growing like crazy because of the rain in November and December. January and February virtually no rain. UGH! They talking drought again!

The wife picked one more on the tree. She likes them even if they are crunchy. It's the American thing to always want fruit that are sweet like candy..Asians like sour, crunchy, dipped in vinegar..all that.

Wow! Lovely Stan! It looks way too pretty to eat! Do they have a mild flavour or is it dependant on the sugar content?
