Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy'

Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy' (Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy')

My Croton is growing and looking very good, considering it's been cool and rainy here in San Diego for the last month. The last few days have been very nice, low 70's f. (23ºC). I think the roots have grown into the ground from the pot, this is the reason so many news leaves are coming out. Photo taken Jan. 4, 2020.

Yes, Crotons are extremely colorful. They are very commonly grown in the tropics. There's so many varieties.

Here we can only grow them as house plants - at least six months or more of the year!

Balcony,

It's a pretty tropical plant. It does grow pretty well here in most areas, except in canyons.

Stan,

I see some very large ones around town. My large one in the big pot in the front yard was looking really bad this past summer. It's actually growing a lot of leaves now. I need to transplant it into a much larger pot.
