The Brazilian Coral trees are flowering in Balboa Park. I've never seen them flower in the winter. Strange! They can flower in spring, summer or early fall. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Jan. 17, 2020.

They look wonderful! I've seen pictures of them before but we are not likely to ever see one here in the UK!:(

Thanks everyone! :>))
This is one of the slowest growing Erythrina species I know. All the other species of Erythina which grow in San Diego will usually grow 5 to 10 ft (1.5 - 3 m) a year.

Erythrina Crista Galli apparently is a form that can be grown here in the UK! It also has an Award of Garden Merit from the RHS.

Balcony:
Yes, Erythrina crista-galli is the hardiest species. I know there's some growing in Washing DC. There used to be a big E crista-galli around the corner from me. It used to bloom three times a year. It was cut down about 4 years ago! :>((
The most common species one sees growing here is Erythrina humeana, caffra, lysistemon and coralloides. There's several others which are not too common. They do become very large trees and can be dangerous because they grow so quickly and then the branches break. This is why they're commonly grown along the freeways.
