Developing Pears

Brilliant Siris looks like quite a lot you will have there.

I have 3 different Pears as pollinators, although Conference is self fertile.

That's interesting Siris I didn't know that Conference was self fertile. Over the last couple of years our 25 year old Conference become loose in the soil in high winds and leaned at an angle of 30 degrees to vertical. Obviously it didn't fruit particularly well understandably, as its roots were loose in the soil. I have now managed to secure and straighten it, by chaining it to the Greengage tree next to it. It now has hundreds of beautiful fruit buds on it and looks as good as ever. I'll pop a photo on the site when I get time.

Alan, Conference, although self fertile fruits better with a compatible partner. Strange you should say your Pear was leaning, I have a prop against mine to keep it from leaning.

Thank you Alan, an interesting solution. Good crop on my Pears I think, Apples not so clever, first time the blossom hasn't synchronise its flowering time.
