Hi Dawn, the hosta which is struggling is in a side border with small cobbles. It was always one that stayed quite healthy and pristine..Iā€™m thinking I may have to pot it up?

Yes that would be better for you to be able to see any snails or skugs then. Its a shame as it sound a nice place you have it in at present with the pebbles. Just makexsure you dont place your pot where snail and slugs can climb upon then drop down on to your hosta eg like another plant over hanging the hosta as it will climb on to the plant drop to get to the hosta. You can buy copper tape to put around your pot too which I did with another plant snails and slugs like.
