Julia, I know I posted a blog about Denman Gardens, a few years ago, but I've either deleted it or it's gone missing!
We booked a timed slot for 10am, next visitors came in half an hour later by which time we had walked a fair way. There are some very big trees there so shaded areas aplenty! I think only 12 visitors were booked for today. Free if you are RHS members. I might post a blog when I've culled the photos down ... :o)

It’s definitely a pretty one, nice detail too. I have a Photinia and if it looks like it’s still struggling into next year..it’ll be out!!

Kate, I have found the Photinias aren't happy in the shade of the neighbour's huge trees.

Yes it is ... and yes it will! I hope to remove a nondescript Photinia and plant this in the space in the Autumn. I bought this today at Denman Gardens, home of the late John Brookes, garden designer.
