The UK is right on the line with them Kate. Cornwall seems to be the "tropics" of Britain. Elsewhere...indoor/outdoor. Better yet,get on an airplane and fly to exotic adventures in the tropics.
Easy to do..wink.

All those plants look excellent together! I see your Howea there, also. My large Howea fosteriana has many seed on it right now. It's also producing about a dozen inflorescence, also.

The big one in the back yard does that..and something eats the seeds before they really ripen.
This front one is stunted and has never grown the large trunk or fronds like the back one. I did something wrong..maybe too long in a small pot before planting out. Both palms were together in 1993. I divided them. The front went in over a decade later still in a pot.
You can kind of spot Howea palms that were grown in pots for years and then planted out. I see one in Fremont just like mine at the old nursery. One of the few palms that still looks great at smaller sizes.

I really like the dwarfish look of your Howea. I’m sure the reason is because being in a pot too long.

For years my cousin would complain "When are you going to prune that damn thing?" Because the fronds were low and you had to do the jungle thing of push the fronds away to come up the stairs.
No more..Don't even have to duck. Just took longer than my plan..ha.

Love the exoticness, Stan. The sago Palm is really striking! I had one indoors and I thought I’d try it outside in a pot..well, that didn’t end well..sadly. You live and learn.
