Just to prove plants don't always do what the experts say. This is an alpine for light, well-drained alkaline soil apparently. It's on a very slight slope, in heavy clay, on the edge of the path. Has got through the last very wet winter with no problem and is now spreading beautifully! Was worth the risk.

It is a very pretty flower. May have to try it for the rockery. Just shows things can surprise you!
