Thanks. It is into its second day of being open. This is the first year I've had this, so I don't know how long the flower lasts.

Does it smell bad?

It has no scent. I know others of this group smell bad, but this has no scent and the flies left it alone.

I have Orbea variegata..does well all summer outdoors...needs to be indoors in winter. It can take the cold, but not the wet.. It did bloom a dark maroon once,I think it was. Last winter I left it outdoors. Never again.

Yes, these need very little water or they go soft and die. They are in a group that I keep together so if rain is forecast, I can take it inside.

I'm growing this summer by a big sunny window and that still wont give it the color it gets outdoors Wylie, but I want vegetative grow to make up for what I lost..THEN,go back to summer outdoors, winter indoors.
They are so ...interesting. Other world like.
