Campanula

Janey

Campanula

I don't remember the name of this pretty sky blue campanula. It's a perennial which makes a clump of bright green before the flower stems form. I remember buying it on a visit to Burton Agnes Hall in Yorkshire.

It looks a lot like my favourite, C. lactiflora - a really special one.

Do I detect another campanula on the left, near the back. It's the one I have in abundance this year, after encouraging it for ages.. delightful little fairy hats in deep purple? I just LOVE campanulas... have the takiesemana too, with their little dappled pink cloches..

And that's exactly what it is, thanks Sheila. Yes keeps its form well and a really pretty pale blue..

Thank you Ange and Dd...:))

Lori, yes you do and that is a real thug! I keep pulling lots out after flowering and still it runs! I can imagine with your extensive gardens it will be perfect. The bees adore it. Just above on the wall I've a beehouse and the baby bees emerge just as this starts to bloom, so it's perfect for them. I'm going to,check out your takiesemana, I haven't heard of that one..

Yes cherry bells Lori, I've a white campanula with the same rounded shaped flowers...

It is Sheila. It's a little bee house Jim sent me one birthday with seeds too. Some of the seeds grew into ox eye daisies, which the bees love. It's so interesting to see the leaf cutter bees flying in with pieces of leaf in their mouths to seal up the entrance of the bamboos where they've laid an egg. It takes them quite a while to seal all the way round. And too the Mason bees with earth and saliva..

Thanks Amy!

I like the Cup and Saucer campanula... canterbury bells?
it grows a bit taller... but it's so pretty with pink, white and purple colours.
