Those are the best! I used grow watermelons, they were like candy. My neighbor used to grow butternut squash and give them to me. They were awesome!

They are fun to grow, but I must guard against squirrels & raccoons. Looking forward to eating the squash - they have an 8 month shelf life.

Yes, I really like the long shelf life. Luckily, we have no squirrels in my neighborhood. We do have lots of raccoons, opossums, skunks and coyotes.

That's a lot of animals to worry about yikes!
