Stapelia grandiflora

I was wondering about the smell too - never smelled it myself but had read its like bad meat (yum...) They are strange plants but you have a splendid flower on yours!

Smell or no smell, how beautiful is that? Stunning!

There is a slight smell of something that is off, but you have to get very close to detect it. I have a window cracked open near it, and those fringes move in the breeze.

I changed my mind. As this has aged, the scent has gotten stronger, and it became so strong that I put it outside.

Nice little bloom. I think my Stapelia variegata -when it does bloom- is a small dark brown.Nothing showy that I recall.

The Stapelias tend to be more subdued that their cousins, Orbea, Edithcolea and Huernia. I have some of those, and I hope they don't smell as bad as this one.

They are lovely! I had one, but left it in Novo Hamburgo, here is too cold for them

I have mine outside during the summer and under grow lights in the winter, so they never get really cold or wet.
