casting its seeds to the wind

They don't actually pop. The seedpods open very quietly like a clam shell. Because how the seeds are arranged in the pod, they need a good brisk wind to carry them off and that's typically what we get in November. Once airborne, they're gone. The seeds could travel for miles and they are buoyant and can sail across bodies of water or get washed down the river. The plants (Common milkweed) send out underground runners and will multiply exponentially if I don't keep them in check. I'm only growing this for the Monarch Butterfly because they are now endangered. I hope the fires in CA are under control and you are keeping safe. Happy New Year.

Happy New Year!
I didn’t mean the seed pods pop. The seeds fly everywhere and pop up everywhere. The tropical milkweed here is a big weed, but they’re good for the butterflies, though.
The big fire in northern San Diego County is 95% under control now. We’re finally getting some real rain today. Yay! I haven’t seen real rain since last spring.

Oh, lol sorry about my manifesto. Yeh they pop up everywhere too. Glad the fires are under control. Rain is a good thing.

Yes, the rain is good for the very dry soil here. It’s also very good for the fires.

Does it pop up everywhere?
I used to have Asclepias curassavica popping up everywhere. I finally got it all removed. Luckily, it only lives 3 or 4 years before dying.
