We always take some food with us not only to feed the ducks, but for the small birds as well.

This little character is getting to know us now.

Thanks Kate. It's been colder today that it was yesterday. Another couple of days then it's going to warm up a bit.

Linda you always get such clear vivid shots. My birds are too camera shy. Sometimes I get a lucky shot if I keep the feeder full. What's your secret?

I really haven't a clue Paul. I have to be quick especially for the Mistle thrush as he's always on the go. I just enjoy taking the photos. Sometimes I don't get lucky with the shot at all and it's all blurred.

Me too

I think it's just a matter of knowing when the birds are feeding from day to day and persevering with taking the photos. I only have a small camera...Sony with 18.2 mega pixels, but it's got quite a good lens on it with good magnification.

So you're just like me, lol. Those 'lucky' shots are precious though aren't they? I've removed the screen from the kitchen window and made sure the window is immaculate so I can take photos from inside without startling the birds away. It's no guarantee but worth a try. We get some gorgeous woodpeckers, chickadees and blue jays but they fly off if I even think about snapping their picture. Good Times! :)

Thanks Mossy, yes he is lovely. Our wildlife is precious and I believe we should help the creatures as much as we can.

Pleased to see it's being fed. Our cat came home with a pigeon squab last night - very few feathers. Daft adults.
