My treat.

My treat.

I have been looking for an affordable version of this conifer for 12months. I have seen mature versions of Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana 'Wissel's Sagauro' and fell in love with it. It grows 12ft+ and branches out a bit like the cactus' shape. Rather unusual. I am a happy bunny.

Paul, please put up a pic. of yours! How are you growing it? I shall grow it in a pot for a little while and have read conflicting reports of the growing medium it needs.

Klahanie, same q's for you, please. What is yours potted in?

They are lovely, aren't they?

Anget perhsps you would like to PM BJS with your photo- Some time ago he was asking for identification of a big one he had !

Found the photo from Brian. He says it was variegated - this isn't! Pure dark green as per photo. The mature ones I saw were all dark coloured, too.

No problem, Klahanie.

I can imagine how happy you are, Ange, especially if you’ve been looking for this for a while too! I love the dark green colouring. I’ve had to google it, as I hadn’t heard of this one - fantastic. Look forward to seeing your pics of it outside in the garden.

If I manage to keep it going it should prove a beauty, Kate. I fell for its shape and colour. There was a house I saw with 2 either side of the front garden, about 15ft. high. They were stunning. But goodness, the big ones are expensive!

It certainly looks different, do you have a big garden Ange ???

Um, not really Stripes, about 60x40. Largish for an estate, though. I would like much bigger (but a smaller house to keep tidy!).

It does have an uncanny resemblance to the Saguaro Cacti in Arizona. I love the deep green foliage and I'm happy for you finally found one. It will only get better with age.

Thanks for taking the trouble of finding out, Klahanie. I shall look yours up. I have spent some time this weekend reading about conifers generally - I know so little abut them.
