And not a butterfly in sight, sadly...

Lots of flowers. Where have all the butterflies gone? We have lots visiting our buddleia, especially fritillaries and scarce swallowtails.

I have a photo somewhere (not digi) showing about 4 or 5 different species all on the same flower on this buddleja, so you see we did get them at some time. You could give it a shake and a cloud of butterflys would fly up. But these last few years - hardly a sausage :-(

Your butterfly bush has some of the largest blooms I've ever seen, you really grow 'em big over there don't you !...lol. Would you be willing to share the cultivar of this beauty?

Sorry, F1, I don't know the variety - this bush is about 15 years old and the lable is long gone, I'm afraid! I would also like to know the variety, tho. Sarah.

Hi Sid, I don't think I've ever seen so many flowers on a Buddleja ! I have recently planted one in my garden (no photos yet) called 'Gulliver', (has to be tied down with ropes !). Allegedly short in stature, but the flowers (that I have seen) are quite large and subtle lilac in colour - will post photos next year.
