pretty flower on young almond tree

I know there is no way I will get almonds but its flowers are very pretty in early spring.

Don't be defeatist Klahanie. A tree in my old village in middle England did once have a good crop of almonds.But they are worth having just for the flowers...

My cousin grows pecans in Louisiana. He says they must cross pollinate. Maybe that applies to almonds too.

I never saw any other almonds around. Middle England is not famed for long hot summers but we must have had one that year! Bu who cares, the blossom is wonderful...

I love both of those nuts. I use walnuts in flapjack and cakes, and like them just as they are too. I've sometimes chopped up hazelnuts and put them in scones.
