First Bearded Iris to flower this year, Gingerbread Man, a Standard Dwarf (24"). Actually not quite true, the miniature Iris suaveolens I just bought mail order had a flower on it.

The name is spot on and those blue beards are awesome!

at first glance I thought not so sure but the more I look the more I see and the more I like it.
Was it hard to place in the borders or is it in a dedicated Iris bed?

Glad you showed this. I bought it last year but it hasn't flowered yet. Nice to see what it looks like 'in the flesh'.

Actually I'm not that keen on the colouring
SBG, I'm not that bothered about colour clashes, just giving the Beardeds the sunniest locations to ripen the rhizomes. As the standard dwarfs are small they go at the front of the border, the ones over 1m at the back with some Rose bushes behind.
Anget, the dwarf Beardeds should start flowering about now. There's a blue one open today, unnamed, bought from a GC in France a few years ago.
