yet here it was cloudy and spitting rain. weird just a few miles distance. but thats the UK for you. Blue sky here at 18.35. :o)

The Acer we have out the front looks as though it's on fire. We cut it right back last year. It suffers from blackfly, but the sparrows enjoy them. We try not to spray as they are feeding their babies on all the live things.

Sounds beautiful! I’ll bet it catches the eye of people passing too!
Our acers have little blackfly, but they don’t seem to do any damage and are eaten, as you say, by wildlife and I’ve spotted ants having a munch.

Aphids produce a sweet liquid that the ants like. They milk them by stroking them with their antenna. Just some info Kate and I find it all very interesting how nature is all connected and how fragile everything is.
