Average size Jacaranda. (Jacaranda mimosifolia (Brazil Rosewood))

They can get larger..but I would say this is the average grown tree.

It’s a striking tree, Stan. Also, it’s a gorgeous mix in this pic.

That brief time of the year to catch them at the same time. Last year,it was a foggy day..a bit of luck in 2021.

Stan,

It’s really good when it’s cloudy to take pics of Jacaranda trees. The color stands out better.

There’s very huge Jacaranda trees in San Jose and throughout the south bay.

They are around..the biggies. But people seem to stump many of them down to yard size and few are left to get as large as they want. This one has a good spread on it.

There’s a giant Jacaranda tree (it’s probably around 60 ft tall) at the University of Santa Clara.

When I watch the San Jose news channels Andy- its like a different climate these days. In the background there are subtropicals new and big to the bay area growing.

This summer though? Very cool. A real time machine to 1965. Lots of fog after years of very little fog. Everything is still waiting for summer.

I heard it’s very hot up there now. Lol

Hot today ,cooler tamale. Well,89f hot more or less..than it drops off Sunday and back to the 70's next week.
Not even a heat advisory for the inner bay area..inland its going to be a scorcher but nothing record. THAT heat is for SoCal- Las Vegas and Nevada and of course Death Valley will rise to 130f or 55C.

It hasn’t been too hot here, only low-to-mid 80’s during the day and mid-to-upper 60’s for lows. It can be much hotter for this time of year. It has been very muggy here, though. I’m watch the news right now and the ocean temps are 70 to 73 degrees.

We struggle to make it much past 70f. I mean it's good people weather but does not do much for heat loving plants. Everything that last year I was posting like Mango and Flowers of Pseudobombax in 85f July heat..are barely leafed out this year. Now,I don't need to water much..I do skip more days this summer but can't say I like the fog or cool nights. It's much worse in San Francisco- living up to its reputation as coldest summer city- with highs that don't make it past 58F (14C) and fog all day long on the same day we were 78f after morning fog.
Count the blessings!

It’s been very hot and humid this last week. Ugh! Lots of dry lightning last night here, some places around San Diego had strong thunderstorms with rain. It’s about 78 degrees here right now at 11:30 pm. Lol

My mango tree is going crazy with growth everywhere, it has 10 branching flushes of growth. It’s the most growth it’s had since I put it into the ground 2 1/2 years ago.

Nice today as the last three have been around 80f...then cool to low 70's,return to warm by Friday. Its July,so it SHOULD be nice by now. No hot weather on the horizon. Seems like the bay area has totally missed out on the record heat all over the world.
My tropical plants last year were far ahead of where they are right now.

I just saw this comment.

I was in the Bay Area twice last month. Both times it was very warm in south San Jose, anyway.

Its been a mild spring like summer. We have yet to have those hot streaks. No 90's in a row..not a single 100f ( 42c) even now in September. My Mangoes hardly grew.
The only benefit is my water bill must be much lower than last year when it was great..lots of 80-100 heat.

August here in SD has been very hot and humid, almost unbearable at times. The plants are loving it, but I’ve been hating it! Ugh!

Some of my mango tree leaves got burned in the heat. It was looking so good, too. It’s 7 1/2 ft tall now.

It's been nice in the day..but London nights right now might be warmer. You feel a chill as the sun goes down considering it was mid 70's in the day. Saves water.
I wish I would run across another Justicia..haven't seen it in years. I think mine was from the Berkeley Botanical Garden sale back when.

It’s been very hot here. Yesterday it was 99 degrees today 97! Luckily, it didn’t burn any plants. This time of year a lot of plants get burned.

I need to start some cuttings. I sold all my flowering plants except the small mother plant.
