Chalice flower

I know I showed this last year but I just love this flower! The shrub has reached just over 6ft. now and is a perennial.

Thanks ladies . . . :o)

Kate, I was fed up being a flower, ha ha! We had stopped for a Latte and a Croissant outdoors, how very civilised I hear you say! OH decided I looked very relaxed and a photo would be good . . . :o)

Yes Shirley, do do look nice and relaxed! Love your hat!
I will have to keep a note of this shrub. Does it flower all summer?

Thanks Josie ...

Rose, it is a Kitaibelia vitifolia (Russian Hibiscus/Chalice Flower) which I bought at Denmans Gardens, near Chichester last year. It was described as 'bomb-proof', is a perennial that can grow 6-8ft. and has those pretty white flowers from July to September. This has been flowering for about a month now and is at the back of a border, fence behind it. The leaves are vine-like and it copes with sun or shade. Hope that helps!

That's a lovely pure white. Now where could I put one of those.....?
P.S. I meant to say, I also like your hat :-))

Be warned with this one, it does nothing in the Winter, then thinks it's on steroids in Spring and grows up to 6ft. about now. That's what I have found at least!

Julia, if you knew how much persuasion it took Michael to make me wear it. I really don't like wearing hats, but have been advised to wear one to keep the sun rays off of my face and neck. Long story short, skin melanoma issues previously . . . :o(

Shirley I'm exactly the same when it comes to hats. I use to have terrible trouble finding a suitable one for those 'hat occasions'
I know I should wear one when out in the garden, especially in the fierce sun we've been having. I shall have to look for one as nice as yours.
p.s All plants doing well. Will post photos later. x

I wore a fascinator at our sons wedding . . . that was just about bearable . . . :o)

I shall look out for the photos . . . . .

I'm useless at posting photos. I just hope they all come through. Fingers crossed.
