South Korean Freighter

Waiting for some Canadian Product (usually wheat, lumber, coal) There are unfortunately several anchorages along all our islands here in Canadian Pacific Northwest and these huge ships parking here all the time. There is a "Shipwatch society" of the citizens fighting it but ...good luck. Luckily we do not have anchorage in our view and we see only a nose of the ship here and there but our neighbours and friends on the oceanfront have them in their face. It has to be annoying and probably not what they bargained for when buying their house.
This is a South Korean vessel, so little nicer and better maintained than some of the Chinese clunkers.

I can see it would be very upsetting for your neighbours, Klahanie, who would have bought for the wonderful views like you. There are too many of these monstrosities around the world now, mooring in unsuitably small harbours.
That’s a shame for you, too, Kate, unless your bund hides the turbines?

Thanks Sheila, the bund does actually help hide the view of them..unless the ‘boat’ is in and uplifting them! It can seem quite imposing as you drive up our cul de sac! We are pretty much right on the estuary. Siemens was build behind our bund hill of sorts. The noise of the ‘piling’ a few years back was awful!
Fortunately the positive thing is the turbines are not there all of the time!

Thank you for your sympathy, Klahanie, it’s appreciated! It’s quite horrible but a way of coping is thinking of jobs for people - still not a pleasant thing though. x

Interesting blog, Klahanie. We are in a sort of ‘similar’ situation with Siemens and the wind turbines…just behind us on the Humber. Always on view like massive imposing structures…each weighs 200 tonnes. Saying that, I keep rationalising it - jobs for people.
