This is an odd shade of red, almost but not quite orange-red. I love the deep green throat on it.

Yes an interesting colour, out of the ordinary.

I got this as a bonus plant several years ago. When it started flowering, it became special in sea of patterned flowers.

Beautiful. If I was calling it I'd say brick red.

I have to be as accurate as I can in describing a color when I register a daylily, and I did think that maybe this one was a brick red, but to me brick red has a touch of brown and this has a touch of orange. But then I have seen it live (it's open again today).

It's a beautiful Daylily, Wylie! Brick red may possibly be the nearest description of the colour but photos don't always give the right impression, it really needs to be seen live before describing the colour.

Wylie, do you find that some Daylilies change their colour tone from one year to the next? And are probably better in their second year of flowering?

A lot of things can effect color and pattern. It takes about 4 years for a seedling to settle down into a mature plant. Then soil has a lot to do with it. I have a seedling from some one in Germany. For them, the flower is orange. For me, it is brown. Another, Emozione, by the same person gives a stronger pattern for me than for them. I tend to get fewer buds than what is registered for many plants.

What a stunner Wylie. The green throat will probably help attract pollinating insects I would think.
