Its back in flower after taking some time off in the pot its in. I was just reading that its sort of a dwarf Bougainvillea and maybe more cold tolerant down to a zone 9a.
It does do that thing of bracts changing color as they age..from apricot to pinkish.

Isn't it magnificent?

I was lucky. I bought for looks and wanted it for pot growth from the start. Some Bougy's here get to be very large and thorny, nearly tree size really. I don't have that space. So to read and find its something smaller and with the interesting habit of showing different colors was nice.

I’m just loving it, looks good against the white wood too.

It looks great! It looks very similar to my Orange King.
I’ve had one in a pot for more than 30 years.
Yes, Bougainvillea in the ground will take over the whole garden. I’ve seen them trailing up trees more than 60 ft high here.

What a beauty. Sadly I had to leave mine behind when we moved as I didn't have a greenhouse here to put it in to.

Thanks all. I sometimes wonder if it would be nice to add more potted bougainvilleas? They come in different colors and are not hard to keep. I wouldn't say potted Bougainvilleas are easy. They can get trunk rot and I've had some just die from going too dry in a pot. But,when you get them going, what a show.
Andy- I heard of the heavy rains and lightning socal had AFTER a day in the 80's to 90'f. Unheard of they said.

Stan,
We’ve had so many thunderstorms this summer. We had big thunderstorms a week an half ago with .60 inches of rain. This past Monday we had the most thunderstorms I’ve seen in my life during one day (no kidding). They started in afternoon and then the sun came out it got very hot and humid, then by 5 pm the severe thunderstorms came in until 9:30 pm with very heavy rain…then at midnight more big thunderstorms came in until 2:30 am. We got an inch of rain. The news said San Diego County had more than 2,000 lightning strikes. In the last two months we’ve had 8 thunderstorms (some without rain) which is extremely unusual.

I saw a forecast of more real rains for socal soon. Here? Nothing. Cool, breezy. I'm getting ready to rotate some potted plants to winter warmer spots.

We received about another 1/2 inch of rain overnight Thursday to Friday. It was coming down in buckets around 2:00 a.m. This is crazy!
The trees, plants look so perky, fresh and clean all around the city from all the rain. My rain barrels are overflowing. I don’t remember the last time San Diego saw so much rain this early in the season. It’s great!

It’s a gorgeous colour, Stan. I’ve several pics of a more mauveish coloured one spotted all over trips to Italy. I love to see it covering buildings and pergolas…
