Autumn Circus

Autumn Circus

These used to bloom in the Spring, now they are blooming now. I guess they changed their mind - hence the name. :)

That happens sometimes. Not sure why.

That's a beautiful flower Paul.

That’s beautiful! Those types of plants bloom here in January. It’s blooming really early.

Thank you Julia, Klahanie & Andy. We are having a spell of summer-like weather now but Autumn is pushing in with a fury.

It must be nice to have the summer-like weather extend into fall there.

Fall is typically an extension of summer here in San Diego. We receive some of the hottest weather this time of year. The last few weeks we’ve gotten some good rains with big thunderstorms. It’s pretty unusual to receive rain this time of year. It’s typically extremely dry until December and some years until January or February (like last year). We received 4.5 inches of rain all last rainy season.

I'm relieved to hear you've gotten some much needed rain. Hopefully this trend will continue and you will recover fully from the drought. Here we know our days of mild weather are numbered and we try to enjoy it as much as possible.

I hope the trend of rainy weather will continue, also! Most years we’re in drought here.

It’s going to be around 90 degrees here Friday and Saturday. It’s been a little cooler the last 4 or 5 days. However, it’s not unusual to get days in the upper 80’s or 90’s until the end of November.

Wow! That's our July & August 80s and 90s. The weather now is very erratic- hot today, cold tomorrow with lots of rain and wind.Never sure what kind of clothes to wear.

The erratic weather has been the same here. It was very hot today and still hot tonight, but by Monday only low 70’s.

I have experienced mid-to-upper 90’s here in San Diego every month of the year. The city of La Mesa (a few miles to the east of where I live) holds the records for the highest US temperature in December . It’s 107 degree which was recorded back in 1939.

I don't think I can take that kind of heat. I was in Scottsdale AZ for a conference and by 10am the temperature was already 108°F with no cloud cover. I could literally feel myself cook in the direct sun and there's a scorpion under every rock. lol.

That’s horrible heat. I don’t like really hot weather, either.

Thank God, no scorpions here (where I live) nor rattlesnakes. There’s lots of scorpions, rattlesnakes throughout San Diego County, though. Yuck! Lol!

We do have problems with skunks, coyotes and raccoons.

Me too. I was ambushed by a pack of raccoons while taking out the garbage one night. I ran like hell!
