I hope the Acer I bought a few months ago looks this good in years to come!

Julia, I have Acer 'Orange Dream' in a pot and it seems happy, but an Acer labelled as palmatum dissectum, bought from a supermarket in May, looks rather unhappy . . . :o(

They do like watering....I must admit the Acers at the back are watered every other day.....no as much in the Winter.

I've Orange Dream in the ground, Julia. It's pretty big. I love it, it's a favourite of ours. It's quite established so we don't water every day.

Wish mine were in the ground...would save a lot of water and time!

It certainly got well watered last night! Quite frightening to see, and hear, so much torrential rain falling!
