Camellia Yuletide

Camellia × vernalis is a group of hybrids between C. sasanqua and C. japonica
The prominent yellow stamens make the smallish flowers popup
All my other Camellias (japonicas) are in bud but not blooming before April.
Unfortunately, it looks like I lost 2 lovely small camellias I bought last year. They did not survive in the pot on the deck in minus temps for several weeks. The soil was probably soaking wet wet before it froze. I was sad about that as I cannot always get plants which I desire on the Island and a mail order is not practical here.
"Yuletide" is available every year. Common and maybe overly popular for its survival here. I will keep it in a bigger pot and hopefully it will bloom for us in January-February and brighten our deck area.

I think mine might be reacting either to its pot being moved to a different spot or it's resting after 2 very floriferous years! The other 3 camellias are full of buds. One sasanqua that flowered before Christmas last year is still only in bud. Again, the pot was moved.

The singles have a beautiful simplicity, love the colour.

That's a great plant, Klahanie. I had 2 flowers on mine this year. It was smothered the year before! It is in a pot so not sure what's going on. Sorry to hear of your losses - so frustrating.
