egg with out a shell

Found this egg on the grass. Totally with out a shell. Felt very rubbery. Probably a wood pigeon's.

wood pigeons have been put on the amber list as at risk. This is due to the reduction of their natural habitat of woodland. So they come into gardens. People also mix then up with stock doves that are slightly less plump minus the white neck markings.
Hubby hates then as they sit in the tree above the garage and seem to accurately target his open tool box. oh dear!

The female will not have had enough calcium in her diet to make the shell.

That’s quite sad, but, I do chase them off..all the time..such messy birds.
