Chinese rose flowering on balcony 2nd May 2022 001

One of my favourite roses but too big for our space. It's such a warm yellow.

A favourite colour of mine in flowers.

As this one is in a big pot it doesn't grow more than a metre long. It was damaged this year by the herbicide a council gardener used to kill the weeds that grow in the cracks between the paving slabs. It was a couple of weeks later that I finally deduced what had happened. (I'm no Sherlock Holmes! 😂) When I noticed the browning on the few leaves that had started to come out I thought it was windburn but when a couple of Geraniums alongside it showed the same symptoms & one died I realised it couldn't have been windburn. It was just at the same time as the grass & weeds started to go yellow & brown that I realized what had happened. I didn't see the council gardener at the time & didn't even know he had been spraying weedkiller on the pathway & entrance way to our block of flats.

I hope it survives, it's such a pretty colour!
