Klahanie is this the Acer I've recently bought or from the same variety?

Oh, I love this. I hope I can keep mine going long enough to end up with a show as good as yours. Beautiful.

Similar, but not exactly same Julia. You have Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum' and this is "Jordan" which is apparently a random seedling from your Aureum. Jordan grows faster than Aureum and it's more narrow. Aureum grows as wide as it is tall. Also the new growth is a little more of a lemon color than Aureum.
But rather than that there are only slight differences which plain eyesight will not notice. They are both beautiful trees.

Thank you Anget. I am sure yours will be beautiful as well.

Thank you K....I remember the nursery owner saying that Aureum grows as wide as it is tall.

Here it is.. it is a beauty Klahanie. We're all growing it now! Did it take long to get this tall? I'm hoping to keep mine smaller, I'll do my best with it..

I do not remember exactly when I planted it Janey but will guess about 8 years ago. I am sure that you can keep it smaller in a container. I have Osakazuki in a pot for many, many years . It is one of the larger JM and it is doing fine. Just needs to be watered more often.
